How much does it cost to play padel in Australia?
What padel costs in Australia from real venue prices: court hire of about $40 to $100 an hour per court, $10 to $25 per player, plus classes and racket hire.
Short answer: In Australia, padel court hire costs about $40 to $100 an hour per court, depending on the city, venue and time of day. Split between four players, that is about $10 to $25 each per hour. Intro classes range from free to about $40 per person, socials are usually $20 to $45, and racket hire is $5 to $10. Prices checked on venue websites in November 2026.
Padel looks expensive when you see a court price, but every booking is shared by four players. That makes it similar in cost to a lot of other sports and gym classes. Here are the real numbers.

Many venues, especially those on Playtomic, only show the court price once you choose a time, so they are not in this table.
What does padel cost per player?
Divide the court price by four:
| Court price per hour | Per player per hour | Per player for 90 minutes |
|---|---|---|
| $40 | $10 | $15 |
| $60 | $15 | $22.50 |
| $80 | $20 | $30 |
| $100 | $25 | $37.50 |
Ninety minutes is a common booking length. Some venues, such as Padel Fit in Adelaide, offer one, one and a half or two hour bookings.
When is padel cheapest?
Off-peak, which usually means weekday business hours. At the venues above, off-peak was 20% to 40% cheaper than peak. For example, Gold Coast Racquet Club charges $60 before 5pm on weekdays and $100 after 5pm and on weekends, a 40% saving off-peak. Some venues also offer special rates: Recess Padel Club in Melbourne listed $20 per player per hour for over-60s on weekday days and a $15 student rate from Monday to Thursday, 10am to 4pm.

From venue pages checked November 2026:
- $5 at Padel Perth Reabold and West Coast Padel
- $7 at Game4Padel Richmond
- $8 at Tribe North Ryde
- $10 at the Racquet Club venues (balls included) and Sidewall Social ($20 for a premium racket)
- Included in the booking at Padel West
How much do padel balls cost?

Are padel memberships worth it?
Memberships suit people playing at least weekly. They work in different ways:
- Discount memberships: the Racquet Club charges $30 a month or $330 a year for 10% off your share of court hire. Game4Padel's Key membership is $49 a month for 20% off court bookings at its three Melbourne clubs.
- Included-play memberships: Padel West's $80 a month includes free off-peak court booking.
- Tiered memberships: Indoor Padel Australia lists an off-peak membership at $90 a month and a monthly membership at $185 a month. Check what each tier includes before you sign up.
- Credit memberships: Play Nation's $30 a week includes $120 a month of wallet credit plus 30% off court hire.
A simple test: add up what you would pay in a typical month without a membership, and compare.
What does it cost to get started?
For a first session, assuming you hire a racket:
| Item | Cost |
|---|---|
| Intro class | Free to $40 |
| Racket hire, if not included | $5 to $10 |
| Balls | Usually supplied in a class |
| Shoes | Use sports shoes you already own |
| Total | About $0 to $50 |
If you keep playing, a beginner racket costs about $150 to $210 and court shoes $130 to $170 at the entry level. See padel rackets and padel shoes.
Is padel more expensive than tennis?
It depends on where you play, and prices for both vary a lot between councils and clubs. The fair comparison is per player, not per court: four people always share a padel court, while a tennis court is often booked by two.
