Privacy Policy
Last updated: November 2026.
This policy explains what information PadelGuide collects and how it is used. I have tried to keep it short and plain. The site does not show a cookie banner; this page is where I tell you what is collected and how to opt out.
Information you give me
The site has no accounts, forms or newsletter. If you email me, I receive your email address and whatever you write, and I use it only to reply to you and to act on corrections. I do not sell or share it.
Information collected automatically
My hosting provider keeps standard server logs, such as IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested, to run and secure the site.
I also use analytics tools to understand which guides people read and what is missing. They are loaded through Google Tag Manager, which is a container that loads the other tools and does not collect anything itself:
- Google Analytics 4 counts visits and reports which pages are read, how far people scroll, which links they click (for example, a link out to a venue or a shop), roughly where visitors are (city level, from the IP address, which Google does not store) and what device and browser they use. It also records page speed measurements.
- Microsoft Clarity records how people use pages, such as mouse movement, scrolling and clicks, and turns that into heatmaps and session recordings. Clarity masks text you type and sensitive content by default. I use it to find layout problems, not to identify anyone.
These tools do not receive your name or email address, and I do not try to identify individual visitors. When you copy text from a page, only the length of the selection is recorded, never the text. Google and Microsoft may process and store this data on servers outside Australia, including in the United States. Their own policies apply: Google Privacy Policy and Microsoft Privacy Statement.
Cookies
Google Analytics sets first-party cookies named _ga and _ga_ followed by an id, to tell new visits from returning ones. Microsoft Clarity sets _clck (keeps a visitor id) and _clsk (joins page views into one session). They do not hold your name or contact details.
How to opt out
- Install the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
- Block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or browse in a private window.
- Use a content blocker or your browser's tracking protection, which stops these scripts loading.
The site works the same way with all of these turned on.
Advertising
Advertising is not active on this site yet. I may add Google AdSense in future. If I do, Google and its partners may use cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other websites (personalised ads). You will be able to turn personalised ads off at Google's Ads Settings. I will update this page before any advertising goes live.
Links to other websites
I link to venue websites, booking apps, retailers and official sources. Their privacy practices are their own, so check their policies when you use them.
Your rights
Australians have rights under the Privacy Act 1988, including to ask what personal information I hold about you and to have it corrected. Email hello@padelguide.com.au or see my contact page.
