Padel gear

What padel racket, balls and shoes to buy in Australia, typical prices in AUD, and the shops that sell padel gear here.

Short answer: To start padel you need a padel racket, padel balls and court shoes, and you can hire the racket at almost every venue for $5 to $10. If you buy, beginner rackets from the major brands cost about $150 to $210 in Australia, a can of three padel balls about $10 to $16, and padel or clay-court shoes about $130 to $300 (prices checked November 2026).

Padel is a cheap sport to try and a reasonably cheap one to keep playing. The guides in this section explain what to buy, what to skip, and what things actually cost in Australia, using prices listed on Australian retailers' websites.

What do I actually need?

Padel ballsUsually supplied in classesAbout $10 to $16 for 3

Padel balls are not the same as tennis balls. They have lower pressure: the LTA, the UK governing body, puts a new padel ball at 11 psi against 14 psi for a tennis ball. That matters on an enclosed court.

How I handle brands and prices

Brand and product names on these pages are there so you can compare real prices. I have no affiliate links, I do not accept free gear, and I have not tested the products myself. Prices are listed prices from retailers' websites on the date shown, and they change often, so check before you buy. Every price links back to its source on the page and on my sources page.
